COMMERCIAL SUICIDE MAN
I made you a formal offer
I said I’ll do what I can
I gave you this use of an office
So you can establish your brand
And to save you from getting the brush off
I put you on the road in a van
But to make people buy your records boy?
I don’t know who you think I am
- What we gonna do about it Robert?
- What we gonna do about it Robert?
- What we gonna do about it Robert?
Well I might rigmarole for the babies
And I might ‘Coal Not Dole’ now and then
But I won’t score a goal with the ladies
And I won’t pigeonhole with the men
Ah, but if we make it come across natural
The press will call it a scam
To make it sell for are we not
A pair of also-rans?
- What we gonna do about it Victor?
- What is the gnu about it Victor?
- Can you see the clue within the picture?
Once upon a time ‘twas a pleasure
Could never be a thing that’d hurt
But as the days roll by and more people die
It gets a little rough in the dirt
Well my career is on an upward curve now
Decades overdue
So why do I struggle to find a way
To separate the blues from you?
- What’s there to misconstrue about it Robert?
- What we gonna do about it Robert?
- You gotta love what you’re doing
Love, love, love
- You gotta love what you’re doing
Love what you doing or you don’t.

The Nightingales with Vic Godard UK
Not many know this, but Nightingales singer Rob Lloyd and Subway Sect founder Vic Godard were both postmen for the Royal
Mail.
Together, they tried to set alight The Jam's Union Jack backdrop during the White Riot Tour . . . while The Jam was still on stage.
Now, forty years after jamming with The Slits on "No More Rock & Roll For You", the two have reunited to make this surly & kick-ass 7" EP.
